Mt Faber Zone C RC-6thJuly2011

I was invited by Laughter Partner, Abrigail to Mt Faber Zone C RC to teach a short Laughter Yoga Session to her members before their monthly meeting. Besides Abrigail, the Chairman and some members of the RC felt strongly that they can always incorporate LY exercises into their future activities.

PART ONE - FUN AND FUNNY

I like to share the PART ONE of this book ==> the science of humor as seen from a distant.  QUOTE:
1st law ==> things can be funny only when we are in fun.
... we may in only ‘half in fun’ and still funny.
2nd law==> when we are in fun, a peculiar shift of values takes place.
... pleasant things are still pleasant, but disagreeable things, as long as they are not disagreeable enough to ‘spoil the fun’, tend to acquire a pleasant emotional flavour and provoke a laugh.
3rd law ==> ‘being in fun’ is a condition most natural to childhood, and that children at play reveal the humorous laugh in its simplest and most omnivorous form.
... to them every uptoward, unprepared  for,  unmanageable, inauspicious, ugly, disgusting, puzzling, startling, deceiving, shaking, blinding, jolting, deafening, banging, bumping, or otherwise shocking and disturbing thing is enjoyable as funny.
4th law ==> grown-up people retain in varying degrees this aptitude for being in fun, and thus enjoying unpleasant things as funny.
... but those not richly endowed with humor manage to feel a very comic feeling only when within , or behind, or beyond, or suggested by, the playfully unpleasant thing , there is a pleasant one. Only then do they laugh uproariously like playing children.
... and they call this complicated thing or combination of things at which they laugh, a joke.

Sengkang CC-10July'11

http://www.peacefromharmony.org/?cat=en_c&key=331
Racial Harmony Day is celebrated annually on 21 July in Singapore (population: about 5 millions). The event is to commemorate the 1964 Race Riots , which took place on 21 July 1964.

Racial Harmony Day also represents a day for schools to reflect on, and celebrate Singapore's success as a racially harmonious nation and society built on a rich diversity of culture and heritage. In schools all across the nation on that day, students are encouraged to be dressed in their traditional costumes such as the Cheongsam and the Baju Kurung. Traditional delicacies are also featured in the celebrations. Traditional games such as Kutih-kutih and zero point are played in schools, where inter-class competitions are sometimes organised. Schools are also encouraged to recite a declaration on religious harmony during the celebrations.

Declaration on Religious Harmony
We, the people in Singapore, declare that religious harmony is vital for peace, progress and prosperity in our multi-racial and multi-religious Nation.

We resolve to strengthen religious harmony through mutual tolerance, confidence, respect, and understanding.

We shall always :
Recognise the secular nature of our State,
Promote cohesion within our society,
Respect each other's freedom of religion,
Grow our common space while respecting our diversity,
Foster inter-religious communications,
and thereby ensure that religion will not be abused to create conflict and disharmony in Singapore.
Therefore it is with great honour to be invited to join the Sengkang CC for their Racial Harmony Celebration. We did our best to make all residents present go home laughing in that short 20 mins... ha ha ha!!!

In line with their program for father and son , Mrs Veronica Lim-Lowe (Senior Family Life Educator) of Rainbow Centre Early Intervention Programme (Margaret Drive) requested my help to provide some fun to the 'mothers'.
The 13 mothers who participated were very happy ... see the movie.
